Cam Newton refers to Ndamukong Suh as 'Donkey Kong' Suh

Cam Newton is one crafty customer. After missing Week 1 with a rib injury, the Carolina Panthers quarterback was back at practice Wednesday and is expected to start Sunday against the Detroit Lions. When asked if he lobbied head coach Ron Rivera to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (a game which the Panthers won 20-14), the former No. 1 pick offered this:

“My main focus is on the Detroit Lions. I got my hands full trying to stay protected from Donkey Kong Suh and my former Auburn teammate, Nick Fairley,” Newton said. The fourth-year quarterback then offered a variation of that response five times throughout his 15-minute session with the media. Obviously, Newton was referring to Lions defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh. But the character from an '80s video game? We're not sure why Newton went there, but he did. And the fashion in which he repeated the same answer was similar to a stunt pulled by Houston Texans running back Arian Foster last month. Of course, it all goes back to former NBA star Rasheed Wallace.
