Brett Brown wonders if 76ers will win again this season

Yahoo Sports Minute

Philadelphia 76ers first-year head coach Brett Brown knows his team is rebuilding. The former San Antonio Spurs assistant admitted as much a week before the season started that he had "six NBA players" (each team technically has 15 roster spots). Fast-forward to the first week of March and Brown's candor is still refreshing. After a 122-103 loss to Washington this past Saturday (which was followed by a 92-81 defeat to Orlando the following night), Brown was asked if he wonders if his team will win another game the rest of the year.

"All the time. I tell them that," Brown replied without hesitation. "This is the truth. If we don’t play better transition defense and we don’t share the ball, then we have some problems."

Brown added if they don't do those two things, then it's "a lottery" on whether or not there would be another victory. The earnest coach was reminded his club is already in the lottery (the NBA draft version) and responded, "A lottery of a different sort. And that's a candid conversation we share with each other."

The 76ers have lost 14 in a row and face Oklahoma City Tuesday. The NBA record for consecutive losses is 26, set by the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers.

Crowning achievement

Speaking of … former Cav LeBron James poured in a career-high 61 points against the Charlotte Bobcats Monday night. King James was 22-of-33 from the field and tied a career-best by knocking down eight 3s in a 124-107 Heat victory.

We're going streaking!

Meanwhile in college hoops, No. 14 North Carolina won its 12th-straight game. The Tar Heels beat Notre Dame 63-61 in UNC's last home game of the season. The winning streak is the program's longest since the 2008-09 campaign.

Wearing thin?

Finally in NFL news, San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh told Sports Illustrated there's "zero opportunity or chance of [leaving] in my mind." Harbaugh has two years left on his contract with the team and has been the subject of several rumors over the last couple weeks.
