Bartolo Colon misplays easy comebacker to mound, continues to be baseball's clown prince

New York Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon has already done some wacky things on and around a baseball field this season. There was his version of the Truffle Shuffle. There was the Swing Heard 'Round Queens. And now this. During the fifth inning of Thursday's matinee against the St. Louis Cardinals (which the Mets won 4-1 thanks to a masterful performance by the soon-to-be 41-year-old), Colon attempted to field a routine comebacker off the bat of fellow starter Lance Lynn. Colon even settled into a perfect defensive stance. One problem: the ball glanced off his glove for an error. But the panache shown by the former Cy Young Award winner was pure comic gold.

Gone with the wind

There was more wackiness at Citi Field this week. Cards hurler Michael Wacha lost his lid in a scene that was a reminiscent of a game played at Candlestick Park back in the day.

Moving to hockey, Boston Bruins winger Brad Marchand missed an open net from three feet out in Game 4 of Boston's first-round series with the Detroit Red Wings.

Luckily, the miss didn't cost his team the game as the Bruins won 3-2 in overtime.

Bandette together

And if you didn't know what a Bandette is, you do now. It's a cheerleader from the National Lacrosse League's Buffalo Bandits. One in particular performed flawlessly after a wardrobe malfunction that featured an oversized jersey.
