Announcer couldn’t stop laughing during Super Bowl broadcast

Expressions don't always translate perfectly across borders, as we were reminded during a UK broadcast of the Super Bowl. Joining British host Colin Murray in the booth to offer his insight was former running back Terrell Davis, who suggested at halftime that the Seahawks would be wise to "eat clock." Clearly he meant that killing time was in Seattle's best interest with a big lead, but Murray read that to mean something altogether different and couldn't contain himself as Davis kept repeating the phrase.

One unlikely bounce deserves another

If you fancy seeing an own goal that is in a category all its own, check out this mishap during the semifinal of the 2014 Copa Del Rey match between Real Sociedad and FC Barcelona. After an FC Barcelona scoring chance in the second half was stymied by the goal post and deflected to the far side of the field, Sociedad defender Gorka Elustondo chased down the loose ball and cleared it ... right off his goalkeepers chest and into the net.

These spectators won't stop barking

Finally, an amusing headline regarding stray dogs in Sochi. During a training session for Cross-Country competitors Thursday one chipper stray found his way onto the course to provide skiers with some added motivation — by accosting them at one particular turn and barking as they passed by.

The alley without the oop

With the Sacramento Kings holding a comfortable 28-point lead in the third quarter against the Chicago Bulls Monday night, 2011 No. 2 overall pick Derrick Williams found himself on a wide open fast break with a chance to showboat. He seemed to think tossing the ball off the backboard for an alley-oop to himself would get the crowd to their feet. Instead, the ball hit the backboard and sailed over the outstretched hands of Williams and the crowd rolled back into their seats with laughter.
