5-foot-7 Yuki Togashi is making a name for himself in NBA Summer League

Yahoo Sports Minute

While the era of "TogaSanity" may be a ways off, 20-year-old Yuki "Toga" Togashi is already leaving his mark on the NBA. The 5-foot-7 point guard has become a fan favorite during the Las Vegas Summer League this week, setting off "toga, toga, toga!" chants each time he checks in for the Dallas Mavericks.

Prior to being invited to try out for the Mavs in a league in which the average player is a foot taller than he is, Togashi enjoyed incredible success in Japan's BJ league. Last season, he averaged 15.3 points and 7.6 assists per game while playing for the Akita Northern Happinets. It earned him a place on the BJ's Best Five Team, essentially the league's equivalent to the All-NBA First Team.

Prior to that he graduated from Kevin Durant's alma mater, Montrose Christian in Maryland, but didn't receive any attention from Division I college basketballl programs stateside. Amazing how things change.

On Wednesday, he scored 11 points in 12 minutes in limited action against the Charlotte Hornets. Time will tell whether this sharpsooter can secure a lasting spot on an NBA roster, but it's clear that he's already secured a fan base among NBA fans and Animal House lovers alike.
