Week 4 Fantasy Takeaways: Jeremy Hill returns to the end zone, repeatedly

Week 4 Fantasy Takeaways: Jeremy Hill returns to the end zone, repeatedly

1. Thank you for your interest in Jeremy Hill, but the buy-low window has closed.

The bad news for Jeremy Hill's fantasy owners is that he only carried the ball nine times in Sunday's win over Kansas City — in fact, he was out-touched by Giovani Bernard, 13 to 9. But here's the good news: Hill found the end-zone three times on those nine carries, plus he added a two-point conversion in the second-half. He's a committee back, sure, but this is an uncommonly productive committee. Hill and Bernard have combined for seven spikes through four games and the Bengals have averaged 30.3 points per game. Sunday's usage should make it perfectly clear that Hill remains a trusted inside-the-5 ball carrier. Let's hope you didn't make a panic deal, flipping Hill for scraps.

Cincinnati will face a pair of quality Ds in the coming weeks (Seattle and Buffalo), but the team's schedule takes a friendly turn after the bye. Hill was built for November-December AFC North football. He'll earn his top-of-draft price tag.

2. With apologies to Gronk, the best tight end in fantasy is whoever faces the Oakland Raiders.

It's late in the fourth quarter at Soldier Field, the Bears are trailing by two and it's fourth-and-5. Martellus Bennett has been shredding the Raiders all afternoon, catching 10 balls. Jay Cutler has radar-lock on his tight end. With the game on the line, Oakland chooses to cover Chicago's most productive receiver with ... (wait for it) ... Ray-Ray Armstrong.

So yeah, that resulted in a 7-yard gain. The Bears extended the drive, ultimately won the game. Bennett finished with 11 catches for 83 yards and a touchdown. As of this writing, Bennett is this week's top-scoring tight end. EVERY WEEK, Oakland seems to be allowing a top-scoring tight end. We're not exactly talking about a murderer's row, either: Tyler Efiert, Crockett Gillmore, Gary Barnidge, Bennett.

3. Todd Gurley is a monster, and he's just getting started.

Gurley dominated the backfield touches for St. Louis in Week 4, rushing for 146 yards on 19 carries in his second pro game. He was without question the best back in college football last season, pre-injury, and he has obvious star potential as an NFL back. He broke off multiple runs of 20-plus-yard runs against a respectable Arizona defense on Sunday, and the kid demostrated excellent game/clock awareness on the final series, too. Gurley's upcoming schedule is ridiculously friendly for fantasy purposes — at GB, bye, Cle, SF, at Min, Chi — so you're gonna wish you had a few more shares.
