Can these fantasy duds save their season for fantasy owners?

You drafted 'em in the early rounds, and they're dragging your team into a fantasy abyss. Let's reconsider the potential of three September duds...

Tom Brady — As of this moment, he's the No. 28 quarterback in fantasy. Twenty-eight. That's definitely not the level of production you expected, no matter his draft price. Brady has an alarming lack of big-play receivers at his disposal, which helps explain why he's opened the season going 1-for-12 on pass attempts of 20 yards or more. Throw in a damaged Gronk, and we've got ongoing concerns. Brady is more of a platoon QB this season than an every-week starter. Start him against Oakland, but find a quality backup. Or simply hope for a big Week 3, then trade him to your league's obnoxious Pats apologist. (All leagues have at least one.)

Victor Cruz — Unless your league awards points for dropped passes, Cruz has been a massive disappointment. For the year, you can still expect him to be a volume receiver, a good-not-great WR2. He's a better player than the opening weeks suggest. But I'd look for alternatives in Week 3, when New York hosts a legit Texans defense.

Toby Gerhart — Remember when you were absolutely positive that Toby would get you, say, 1,400 total yards and eight TDs? Well, he's on pace for 592 and zero. Not exactly justifying that fourth or fifth-round price tag. If Gerhart can't get rolling against Indianapolis this week, then he cannot be started going forward, except to cover byes and injuries.
