Big fantasy concerns for Robert Griffin III and Trent Richardson

Consensus top 100 fantasy draft-day picks Robert Griffin III and Trent Richardson are already in hot water after just one week of the '14 regular season.

QB Robert Griffin III (WAS) - In Washington, RGIII was a check-down fanatic at Houston, throwing for 267 yards on 37 attempts. In the process, he failed to engineer a touchdown drive for the Redskins offense, and he also kept mostly to the pocket, racking up just two rushing yards – a very disconcerting development if you are a RGIII owner. Following the game, head coach Jay Gruden admitted the team should have run the ball more. This won't help squelch rumors that Gruden's confidence in RGIII is waning. Owners of the Washington QB should look to see if he can be packaged with a bench player to upgrade at QB – perhaps a safer back-end QB1 like Jay Cutler, Russell Wilson or Nick Foles, for example. If no deal is to be had, at least find another QB from the waiver wire (e.g., Carson Palmer, Ryan Tannehill, Joe Flacco, Jake Locker) to pair with Griffin, who is looking more and more like a matchup play rather than a weekly staple.

RB Trent Richardson (IND) - In the Indy backfield, Richardson managed just six carries for 20 yards at Denver in Week 1, an average of just 3.3 yards per carry – which happens to be his career average over 32 games. It's getting more obvious with each passing contest that T-Rich lacks the instincts to be an above average NFL back. In fact, backup RB Ahmad Bradshaw appears poised to take T-Rich's starting job in the near future. T-Rich owners should at least try to secure Bradshaw's services in advance of a seemingly inevitable Richardson demotion. Bradshaw can still be had in nearly three-quarters of Yahoo leagues. And other waiver wire options like Chris Ivory (34 percent owned) and Mark Ingram (56 percent owned) would be immediate upgrades for those T-Rich owners looking to at least move him to their fantasy bench until his real-life benching comes to fruition.
