  • Is Lamar Miller a fantasy championship option?

Andy Behrens at Yahoo Sports Fantasy Minute 9 mths ago

If you made it to Championship Week with Lamar Miller on your fantasy roster ... well, wow. Amazing achievement, buddy. It's pretty much down to you and Ron Rivera for Coach of the Year honors. Miller had a stellar matchup against San Diego in Week 15, yet he received only nine carries and was out-snapped by rookie Jay Ajayi. For reasons known only to the Dolphins coaching staff, Miller has seen single-digit carries in three of his last five games. He's averaging 4.9 YPC on the season, so the workload issues certainly aren't related to poor performance. Miami is actually 5-0 this season when he receives 13 or more carries and winless when he sees 12 or less, so perhaps this is some sort of stealthy tanking plan. Not sure.

(Miami legitimately makes me hate real dolphins. What an incredible disappointment that team has been, both in the fake game and real life.)

  • Week 14 Funny Money: Strike DFS gold in 49ers/Browns game

Yahoo Sports Staff at Yahoo Sports Fantasy Minute 9 mths ago

In this week's Funny Money, Yahoo Sports' Brad Evans and Brandon Funston get animated about the attractive Daily Fantasy values of controversial Cleveland QB Johnny Manziel ($22) and San Francisco's unsung lead RB Shaun Draughn ($19).

[Yahoo Daily Fantasy: $10 could win you $30K in our $300K contest for Week 14]

Funston was first to the plate, touting the virtues of Johnny Football, who was named the starter for the Browns this week following a demotion to third string for off-the-field shenanigans. When last we saw Manziel on the field, he threw for 372 yards against Pittsburgh (Week 10). Facing a 49ers defense allowing nearly 300 yards passing per game on the road, Funston thinks Manziel will have a good chance to push the 300-yard passing mark once again. And with his ability to tack on a healthy rushing yardage total, Manziel's DFS price tag  ($22 in Yahoo DFS) seems like a screaming deal to Funston.

  • Why fantasy owners should put Matt Ryan on ice for the playoffs

Andy Behrens at Yahoo Sports Fantasy Minute 9 mths ago

It seems highly unlikely that Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has led anyone into the fantasy playoffs, but, if you're still holding out hope, it's time to cut him loose — yup, we're telling you to drop Matty Ice like a burning coal. Ryan's transition to Kyle Shanahan's offense has been mostly horrendous. He's tossed as many interceptions as touchdown passes over the past six weeks (9), and he's delivered only one game all season with more than two TDs. For comparison's sake, Tyrod Taylor has four games with at least three TDs, as does Marcus Mariota.

Bottom line: You won't be starting Matt Ryan in the fantasy postseason, except perhaps in a two-QB league — and ideally you can avoid him in that format, too. Drop him and don't look back. Quarterbacks like Ryan Fitzpatrick, Alex Smith, Jameis Winston, Taylor and Mariota all remain available in a majority of Yahoo leagues, and all are better options in the money weeks.

  • Week 13 Funny Money: Rolling with rookies Parker, Langford in DFS

Yahoo Sports Staff at Yahoo Sports Fantasy Minute 10 mths ago

In this week's Funny Money, Yahoo Sports' Brad Evans and Brandon Funston get animated about the attractive Daily Fantasy values of Chicago rookie running back Jeremy Langford ($17) and Miami first-year receiver Devante Parker ($13).

[Yahoo Daily Fantasy: $10 could win you $50K in our $350K contest for Week 13]

Funston grabbed the mic first, espousing the virtues of Miami's Parker, who made his first big NFL splash last week with 80 yards and a TD against the Jets. Parker will fill the starting role vacated by Rishard Matthews, who cracked ribs in the matchup against New York. Through the first 10 weeks of the season, Matthews returned top 20 fantasy WR numbers, so Parker is in a position to succeed, especially this week against a Baltimore defense allowing the third-most fantasy points to the wide receiver position. At the current price  ($13 in Yahoo DFS), Parker is poised to return a handsome profit this week.

  • Dez or Martavis: Which Bryant should fantasy owners choose?

Liz Loza at Yahoo Sports Fantasy Minute 10 mths ago

Dez Bryant, however, does give me pause. In the five games he’s played since returning from injury, he’s averaged just over 46 yards per outing and only has two scores in that time. His upside is, undeniably, capped by Matt Cassle’s lack thereof. However, he is Dez Bryant. And while I would absolutely start Martivs Bryant ahead of him in Week 13, I think Dez is still a low-end WR2 at Washington on Monday night. While he’s not an automatic top-five play given the current circumstances, his talent is simply too great to discount completely.

  • Week 11 Funny Money: A-plus DFS values in Ajayi, Amendola

Yahoo Sports Staff at Yahoo Sports Fantasy Minute 10 mths ago

In this week's Funny Money, Yahoo Sports' Brad Evans and Brandon Funston get animated about the attractive Daily Fantasy values of Miami rookie running back Jay Ajayi ($11) and veteran New England receiver Danny Amendola ($16).

[Play Yahoo Daily Fantasy and get a 100% deposit bonus with your first deposit]

Funston stepped to the plate first, going to bat for Ajayi, the backup to Lamar Miller in the Miami backfield. In the past two weeks, notes Funston, Ajayi has averaged more than 8 yards per carry (on 11 rushes). This is an offense that will likely look to exploit the weakness of Week 11 opponent Dallas on the ground, as the Cowboys have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to the RB position.  At the price  ($11 in Yahoo DFS), Ajayi, with a good chance to attain double-digit touches this week, is a sneaky upside play.

  • Is Martavis Bryant atop the fantasy heap?

Brandon Funston at Yahoo Sports Fantasy Minute 10 mths ago

Is it time to boost Pittsburgh receiver Martvais Bryant into the big boy club fantasy receiver, past the likes of name brands like Randall Cobb and Jeremy Maclin, who have been wildly inconsistent this season? In a word, absolutely.

The Steelers sophomore wideout has now played the equivalent of one full NFL season (16 games, counting last year's playoff contest). In those 16 games, he's amassed 1,050 receiving yards and, the stat to underscore here, 14 touchdowns. He's basically been a WR version of Rob Gronkowski.

Under the guidance of offensive coordinator Todd Haley, the Steelers have amassed the fifth-most fantasy points per game at the WR position, this despite Michael Vick and Landry Jones having thrown the ball 117 times (to this point) in relief of the injured Ben Roethlisberger. With Big Ben back behind center when Pittsburgh comes out of its bye in Week 12, Bryant is sitting pretty for the stretch run as a top 15-20 fantasy wideout, with the main drawback being one of the toughest rest-of-season schedules at the position. That said, I'd still prefer him to the roller-coaster rides that are Cobb and Maclin.

  • Week 10 Funny Money: Starks, Douglas sweet DFS deals

Yahoo Sports Staff at Yahoo Sports Fantasy Minute 10 mths ago

In this week's Funny Money, Yahoo Sports' Brad Evans and Brandon Funston get animated about the attractive Daily Fantasy values of Tennessee receiver Harry Douglas ($11) and Green Bay's James Starks ($18).

[Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football: First place wins $100K in our $500K contest for Week 10]

Funston chimed in first, stumping for Douglas, who is filling the slot receiver role for the Titans in place of the injured Kendall Wright (MCL). In the same scenario last week, Douglas caught five passes for 73 yards. Funston thinks that Douglas can be even better this week against Carolina cornerback Bene Benwikere, who fills the role of covering the slot receiver for the Panthers. Benwikere has proven to be the soft spot in the Carolina pass defense, as he's allowed more yards in slot coverage than any other slot corner.  At the price  ($11 in Yahoo DFS), Douglas has the upside this week to turn a handsome profit.

  • Are Cam Newton and Greg Olsen a solid daily fantasy stack in Week 10?

Andy Behrens at Yahoo Sports Fantasy Minute 10 mths ago

OK, so the game's best QB-TE combo is still, without question, Tom Bradyand Rob Gronkowski. No argument there. And so far this season, Andy Dalton and Tyler Eifert have been awfully good, too.

But if you're looking for an affordable, high-ceiling stack for DFS purposes in Week 10 (or any week), your best play is Cam Newton and Greg Olsen. Newton is currently on pace to throw 28 touchdown passes and rush for 10, so he's basically delivering the numbers of a QB2 AND an RB2. Olsen, meanwhile, is on pace for the best statistical season of his excellent career. If his second-half looks like the first, he'll finish with a career-high 1168 receiving yards and 10 scores. In Yahoo's daily game this week, you can pair Cam and Olsen for a mere $59, a ridiculous steal.
