In this week's Funny Money, Yahoo Sports' Brad Evans and Brandon Funston get animated about the attractive Daily Fantasy values of Miami rookie running back Jay Ajayi ($11) and veteran New England receiver Danny Amendola ($16).
Funston stepped to the plate first, going to bat for Ajayi, the backup to Lamar Miller in the Miami backfield. In the past two weeks, notes Funston, Ajayi has averaged more than 8 yards per carry (on 11 rushes). This is an offense that will likely look to exploit the weakness of Week 11 opponent Dallas on the ground, as the Cowboys have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to the RB position. At the price ($11 in Yahoo DFS), Ajayi, with a good chance to attain double-digit touches this week, is a sneaky upside play.

Is it time to boost Pittsburgh receiver Martvais Bryant into the big boy club fantasy receiver, past the likes of name brands like Randall Cobb and Jeremy Maclin, who have been wildly inconsistent this season? In a word, absolutely.
The Steelers sophomore wideout has now played the equivalent of one full NFL season (16 games, counting last year's playoff contest). In those 16 games, he's amassed 1,050 receiving yards and, the stat to underscore here, 14 touchdowns. He's basically been a WR version of Rob Gronkowski.
Under the guidance of offensive coordinator Todd Haley, the Steelers have amassed the fifth-most fantasy points per game at the WR position, this despite Michael Vick and Landry Jones having thrown the ball 117 times (to this point) in relief of the injured Ben Roethlisberger. With Big Ben back behind center when Pittsburgh comes out of its bye in Week 12, Bryant is sitting pretty for the stretch run as a top 15-20 fantasy wideout, with the main drawback being one of the toughest rest-of-season schedules at the position. That said, I'd still prefer him to the roller-coaster rides that are Cobb and Maclin.

In this week's Funny Money, Yahoo Sports' Brad Evans and Brandon Funston get animated about the attractive Daily Fantasy values of Tennessee receiver Harry Douglas ($11) and Green Bay's James Starks ($18).
Funston chimed in first, stumping for Douglas, who is filling the slot receiver role for the Titans in place of the injured Kendall Wright (MCL). In the same scenario last week, Douglas caught five passes for 73 yards. Funston thinks that Douglas can be even better this week against Carolina cornerback Bene Benwikere, who fills the role of covering the slot receiver for the Panthers. Benwikere has proven to be the soft spot in the Carolina pass defense, as he's allowed more yards in slot coverage than any other slot corner. At the price ($11 in Yahoo DFS), Douglas has the upside this week to turn a handsome profit.

But if you're looking for an affordable, high-ceiling stack for DFS purposes in Week 10 (or any week), your best play is Cam Newton and Greg Olsen. Newton is currently on pace to throw 28 touchdown passes and rush for 10, so he's basically delivering the numbers of a QB2 AND an RB2. Olsen, meanwhile, is on pace for the best statistical season of his excellent career. If his second-half looks like the first, he'll finish with a career-high 1168 receiving yards and 10 scores. In Yahoo's daily game this week, you can pair Cam and Olsen for a mere $59, a ridiculous steal.

As we gear up for the stretch run of the '15 season, poor lineup decisions begin to take on more dire consequences. To help you avoid some potential Week 9 pitfalls (full season or daily), here's a few players I expect to look better/worse than usual on Sunday/Monday.
Week 9 byes: Houston, Kansas City, Seattle, Arizona, Baltimore, Detroit
QB - Tyrod Taylor, Buf vs. Mia ($34 in DFS) - After missing a couple games with a knee injury, Taylor returns this week in time to face a Miami defense that he lit up in Week 3 to the tune of 277 passing yards (21-of-29) and 3 TDs (0 INTs). The Dolphins have allowed a combined 7 TD passes and an average of 314.5 passing yards to Brian Hoyer and Tom Brady over its past two games. And it will travel to Buffalo sans its best pass rusher, as Cameron Wake, who had 7 sacks in his past three games, was lost for the season (Achilles) in Week 8. Count on Taylor getting his usual 40-60 rushing yards (and maybe a rush TD) to go with some decent passing numbers. He's a back-end QB1 this week.

In this week's Funny Money, Yahoo Sports' Brad Evans and Brandon Funston get animated about the attractive Daily Fantasy values of Chicago rookie Jeremy Langford ($14) and Denver's C.J. Anderson ($18).
Funston jumped to the mic first in support of the Bears' rookie RB (Langford), who is filling in for an injured Matt Forte this week. He's expected to handle a full workload on Monday night against a Chargers defense that has allowed 5.2 YPC and 10 rushing TDs to the running back position. At the price ($14 in Yahoo DFS), the opportunity is too juicy to ignore in Daily leagues..

According to reports, the Chicago Bears will be without Matt Forte for at least two weeks. The two-time Pro Bowl talent suffered an MCL sprain to his right knee this past Sunday versus Minnesota. Prior to Week 8, Forte had amassed the second most totes among RBs and was the fifth most productive back in fantasy.
While Forte is sidelined, rookie Jeremy Langfordwill step up as the team’s lead back. Drafted in the fourth round this past spring, Langford has 4.4 speed and posted the fastest 40-yard dash time at the NFL’s Combine last February. He’s not nearly as good of a pass-catcher as Forte, but should see enough volume on the ground to keep him fantasy relevant over the next few weeks.
Currently available in nearly 70 percent of Yahoo leagues, Langford is one of the hottest waiver wire adds heading into Week 9.

As we near the midpoint of the '15 season, poor lineup decisions begin to take on more dire consequences. To help you avoid some potential Week 8 pitfalls (full season or daily), here's a few players I expect to look better/worse than usual on Sunday/Monday.
Week 8 byes: Washington, Philly, Jacksonville, Buffalo
QB - Ryan Fitzpatrick, NYJ at Oak ($35 in DFS) - As he's only 35 percent owned despite heading into Week 8 as a top 12 fantasy QB, I'm going back to the Fitzpatrick well this week after advocating for him in this spot last week. He's facing a Raiders defense that ranks among the top 10 most generous in fantasy to the QB position. And, Fitzpatrick, who has thrown for two touchdowns in five of his six games, is playing his best football at the moment, sitting among the top five fantasy QBs over the past two weeks. With talent like Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker to work with, and a strong running game to keep defenses honest, Fitzpatrick has a great setup for success, especially in this matchup.

Before jumping in headfirst into the whirlwind of fun that is Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football, be sure to differentiate from the variety of games offered. Since Head-to-Heads, 50/50s and Double Ups pay nearly half of entrants, your best bet to cashing is to target players with higher floors. Think heavily targeted No. 1 WRs, RBs who get the bulk of a team's carries and upper-echelon QBs in matchups with a tight Vegas point spread and a high total.
Tournaments/Guaranteed Prize Pools (GPPs) require a bit more of your inner contrarian -- target offensive players with higher ceilings in advantageous matchups. Huge point totals can come from the most unpredictable of places -- the most obvious plays are not always the right ones. Although previous week's performances should be noted, each new week of action should be considered its own season. Don't chase last week's stats.

In this week's Funny Money, Yahoo Sports' Brad Evans and Brandon Funston get animated about the attractive Daily Fantasy values of Kansas City's Charcandrick West ($17) and Tampa Bay's Charles Sims ($15).
Funston stepped to the podium first, lobbying for West, the Chiefs main backfield replacement option for the injured Jamaal Charles. West made his first big splash of the season last week, rushing 22 times for 110 yards and a touchdown against the Steelers. And the versatile and athletic rookie has a more attractive matchup this week against a Detroit defense allowing the seventh-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. For the sticker price ($17 in Yahoo DFS), you'll be hard-pressed to find a a more attractive RB option in Week 8 DFS.
