After moving across the pond recently, actress Kate Hudson immersed herself in the London lifestyle, taking advantage of the city's restaurants, cafes and nightclubs. Though she relocated to Britain to live with her fiancé, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, the "Almost Famous" star seems to be enjoying her new life as a resident of Britain.
Often spotted out and about, the 33-year-old seems just as comfortable in her neighborhood coffee shops as she does on the Hollywood red carpet. If you're in the area and hoping for a bite to eat (or maybe a glimpse of Kate herself!) here's a look at some of the London locales she's been known to frequent.
Renowned for its seafood and champagne bar, Scott's is a favorite of many high-profile stars. Located on Mount Street in the fashionable Mayfair district, the restaurant has served Simon Cowell, Pippa Middleton, Liam Gallagher, and Keira Knightly as well as former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Kate was seen leaving the restaurant alone in 2008, with producer Harvey Weinstein in 2010, and with Bellamy in 2011.
The Ivy Restaurant
Situated on West Street near Covent Garden, The Ivy caters to theatergoers and opera house patrons by offering extended hours of operation. The award-winning restaurant offers classic fare and an extensive wine list, and its private dining room and members-only club upstairs make it a popular haunt for celebs. After a romantic dinner in 2010, Kate and Matt made a discreet exit out the back door.
J. Sheekey Restaurant
On St. Martin's Court in Covent Garden, the seafood restaurant and oyster bar is a favorite among London-based celebrities. Jake Gyllenhaal, Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, Kate Beckinsale and David and Victoria Beckham have all been photographed at the Zagat-recommended eatery. In 2010, Kate lunched at Sheekey with a female friend and her baby, whom she helped carry to the car.
World-famous chef Wolfgang Puck operates this American-style steakhouse. Located in Mayfair inside the trendy 45 Park Lane hotel, the restaurant has an extensive menu, and its upper levels feature a full bar and library/lounge. The hotel and restaurant offer a variety of packages, including a weekend "bed and breakfast" getaway. Last September, Kate and Matt joined model Kate Moss and Moss's husband, Jamie Hince, for a double date at the fashionable hotspot.
Night clubs, pubs and lounges
On Mill Street in the Mayfair district, this elite nightspot features an Italian restaurant, bar and outdoor courtyard area. Celebrities frequently visit the posh and pricey club, but admission is for members and their guests only. In 2008, Kate was photographed leaving Maddox with her father, Bill Hudson, after attending a wrap party for the film "Nine."
This picturesque pub, in Hampstead off Flask Walk, offers a huge selection of beer and wine. Also a great place to grab lunch, The Flask boasts a friendly and welcoming atmosphere as well as reasonably priced food. Situated in a prime shopping area with tons of character and unique boutiques, it's a great spot to refuel while you're shopping and sightseeing. Kate and Matt stopped in for a beer in 2011 while shopping in the neighborhood with their baby boy, Bingham.
Located on Dean Street in SoHo, this private social club is a favorite of celebrities, and past guests include the likes of Kate Winslet, Robert Pattinson, Sienna Miller and Lily Allen. In addition to a bar, lounge and restaurant, the exclusive establishment also offers bedrooms for members and their guests. In 2010, Kate was spotted at the club with Matt, and the two danced and mingled with other members of Muse.
