Venus Williams. Curling. In Canada. Beauty, eh?

It may be the first photo ever of a professional tennis player curling.

And of all the tournament promotion-type stuff that gets done around the Tour, especially at smaller events, this one is an instant classic. A keeper.

Venus Williams went curling in Quebec City Wednesday. And she loved it.

She shows excellent balance here despite her 6-foot-1 frame as she throws the stone, with trainer Esther Lee (who actually is a Canadian), at the ready to do some sweeping. Williams swept the stones, too. And she found a jacket that matches her new hair perfectly.

The WTA Tour website has a story here. And more pics here.

The only question we have: did they teach her to yell this?

Venus went curling. But did she catch the lingo?

It's like Williams is on a personal goodwill tour of Canada, atoning for all those years she never showed up at the Rogers Cup events. She blew everyone away in Montreal with her tennis, and her grace. And now she's ripping it up in Quebec City.

If she keeps this up, she'll get hono(u)rary citizenship.
