Maria Sharapova returned to action yesterday for the first time since her second round exit at Wimbledon, earning a three set victory over Ai Sugiyama at the WTA Premier Bank of the West Classic. (Rolls right off the tongue, doesn't it?) The 62nd-ranked Sharapova looked rusty in the victory, which could be due to the long layoff, her injured right shoulder or dizziness caused from the multitude of lines on her dress and visor.
That looks like something that would get a guy named Fontaine kicked off Project Runway.
As pointed out on Down the Line, the dress is the same silhouette as the one Sharapova wore at Wimbledon, except this time around it's a minty color with bolded lines that look like mountain peaks and smaller, horizontal lines that resemble the rings of Saturn.
We gave Sharapova high marks for her ensemble at Wimbledon last month, but not this time, not for wearing a dress that was the color of something your mom would paint a guest room.
