Li Na’s win was big news in China, on front page of state-run paper

A picture of a smiling Li Na kissing her French Open trophy was featured on the front of a number of Chinese newspapers Sunday, including the People's Daily, the flagship newspaper of the country's ruling communist party.

The headline reads, "Li Na Reached the Summit of the Grand Slam." Li famously parted with the state-run sporting system in 2008 and her career subsequently took off.

Li's victory was also above the fold news in the United States. The New York Times features a picture of the new world No. 4 on the front of its Sunday editions:
