Game Point: Wozniacki continues slide, Roddick wins

    (AP)

Game Point is Busted Racquet's roundup of facts, figures and links from across the web.

Love -- Caroline Wozniacki lost her first match since falling from No. 1, blowing three match points in a 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 loss to Lucie Safarova at the Qatar Open.

Chris Skelton tweeted a fascinating stat after the loss: In between the 2010 and 2011 editions of Wimbledon, Wozniacki lost two total matches before the third round of a tournament. In the seven months since Wimbledon 2011, she has already lost six such matches. The knock on Caro was always that she didn't have the game for the full-field events. No one ever doubted her ability to win the lesser ones. Right now, she'd love to contend in a second-tier event.

15 -- Here's another stat: Wozniacki has a 20-10 (67 percent) record since she started dating Rory McIlroy. In the 11 months before she met him, her record was 74-12 (86 percent).

30 -- Andy Roddick was victorious in his return to the tennis court. Playing for the first time since pulling out of the Australian Open with a hamstring injury, the 29-year-old American held off 19-year-old Denis Kudla in three sets at the San Jose Open. The final score was 6-7, 7-6, 6-4.

40 -- It took one match for Roger Federer to advance to the quarterfinals in Rotterdam. The world No. 3 defeated Nicolas Mahut 6-4, 6-4 in the first round of the Dutch event and then moved into the quarters after Mikhail Youzhny withdrew from the tournament with a foot injury. Federer will face Jarko Nieminen in the quarters and could see either Tomas Berdych or Juan Martin Del Potro in Sunday's final.

Game -- The US Open Series has a new title sponsor. Emirates Airlines signed a seven-year deal with the USTA to sponsor the run of summer events in North America. The Wall Street Journal reports the deal is for more than $90 million and includes major promotions tied to the US Open.

Women tennis no longer has a pretender as number one.

Hey Chris what you said is the truth, but you forgot to mention that her father is keeping her from getting better. The problem with caroline is she goes after points and finally her peers have had enough and are starting to whip her on the court. She will always be a top 20 player but as for number one she will remain a former number one.

why do people condemn the writer?
the article is about Caroline, so what if the title is misleading.
writing tennis articles on yahoo is not journalism.
it is on par with TMZ.
we all know how Rory has hurt her career.
We all know that 'father does not know best'!
some of us harbor the illusion that she will revive her fading status.
some of us live in a world where Snooki is a 'STAR'.
Caroline, you can not serve two masters.
      It's either Tennis or Rory.
Look what happened to Kim when her relationship went sour.
Women can not distinguish between love and sex.

There's 2 ways Caroline can go: 1) Let this affect her and she become just like Jankovic and let glitz and glamour get to her and she falls off the wagon or 2) She realizes that she's still young and the fact that many veterans from past have one slams (a la Amelie Mauresmo, Sam Stosur, Li Na) so she wants to continue to work hard, get rid of her father as a coach and rely on a little luck of the draw and who knows, she may eventually end her career a multi-slam winner!

Wozzy sucks - the most undeserved No 1 of all time (except for Dinara Safina) and sliding further. To all those clowns insisting she'll win a slam, just change the record already. Ain't gunna happen!

I really don't know why you guys let an idiot like chase push your buttons, he's like the 6th Beatle. I also agree with Runner, caro's act is boring with her PC comments,

Hmmm, try to avoid Busted Racket; they faked me out with Game Point. But not more than once.

You can cry about it all your want, but I have been explaining this for two years now, and the haters *never* get it.

Yahoo does not care if you like Chris Chase or not. The quality of his articles does not matter in the least. Yahoo cares about one thing and one thing only:

How many people click on his page.....

See, Yahoo charges ad revenues for these pages. The more people that click on this page, the more ad money Yahoo will make. So, as long as the Chase Haters come out in full force to protest on his article, Yahoo will make more money. Why would they fire him and replace him with someone that would bring in less hits, and therefore, less money? They would be stupid to do that.

The only way Yahoo will think about replacing Chris Chase is if the number of people who click on his articles decreases, and stays lower for a prolonged period of time.

This means that, for you haters to get your wish, you have to *stop* visiting his pages altogether. It *really* *really* *really* *really* is just that simple, folks.

I keep explaining it, and yet, none of you listen.

        It's absolutely hysterical.

The people who most want him gone are the very reason he continues to have a job.

I don't know why that is such a difficult concept to grasp.

Well said John . No its not a difficult concept to understand but you're giving too much credit to Chase Haters. They really are that thick as well as bitter and twisted that at least people read and comment on Chris Chase articles (whereas no-one gives two figs about them!)

Caroline, remember sex is not exercise, it might make you tired, but it ain't going to improve your tennis game. Next thing you know, you will be engaged and that will help you focus on his sport. Go out and have some safe, protected romps with some boy toys. Postpone that serious stuff until at least 27 or 30.

Papa Piotr is FUMING about this one: 'Wozniacki has a 20-10 (67 percent) record since she started dating Rory McIlroy. In the 11 months before she met him, her record was 74-12 (86 percent).'

Chris, do you ever actually attend any sports events ? Anyone can sit at home and obtain the basic information from the news services.

Who wrote this?? Fake Chris Chase or Idiot Chris Chase? Either way sucks
    • Runner  •  3 months ago
Nobody cares about Wozniacki, she is not pretty, plays moonball tennis, and is stupid. Her number 1 ranking was a big joke that exposed the level that women's tennis has fallen.

      Here's another stat:

Zero -- The number of articles Chris Chase has written in his lifetime that weren't absolute crap.
    • Captain Stabbing  •  3 months ago
Chris Chase too busy 69ing himself today to even bother to write an introductory paragraph to all his copy and paste

A blind man could write a better story then Chris Chase can.
