Love -- While in Atlanta for the start of the US Open Series, John Isner hit with one of his favorite college basketball players from his youth, Tom Gugliotta. While growing up in North Carolina, Isner watched Googs star at NC State. The two met before the Atlanta Tennis Championships and played a few games of tennis (which Isner won) before heading to the basketball court for a modified game of H.O.R.S.E. (won by Gugliotta).
15 -- Elena Dementieva got married over the weekend in Moscow to hockey player Maxim Afinogenov. Among the tennis players in attendance were Vera Zvonareva and Dinara Safina. Caroline Wozniacki and Roger Federer were among those who taped video tributes.
30 -- Serena Williams was rated the most popular female athlete in America for the fourth time in five years. Venus finished second in the annual Harris Interactive Poll. Maria Sharapova, Anna Kournikova (?) and Martina Navratilova (???) were also voted in the top 10.
40 -- This week's ATP tournament in Hamburg is called the bet-at-home Open. To follow suit, the Tour de France should somehow incorporate EPO into its name.
Game -- It's not an apples-to-apples comparison, but it's interesting to note that the gap in rankings points between Caroline Wozniacki and Kim Clijsters (2,290) is greater than the gap between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal (1,885).
