The Cyclops, Day Seven: Murray vs. Wawrinka

Andy Murray GBR (3) v. Stanislas Wawrinka SUI (19), Third Match (13:00 GMT start), Centre Court

In terms of both quantity and quality, the second Monday at Wimbledon is often the best day of the tournament. After the usual Sunday break, all 16 fourth round matches will be contested today, providing a number of interesting storylines: Roger Federer battles the man who dethroned Rafael Nadal at the French Open (Robin Soderling), Lleyton Hewitt and Ivo Karlovic try to continue their unexpected runs, the Williams Sisters and Andy Roddick are in action, as well as up-and-coming sensation Melanie Oudin. But it's the final match of the day on Centre Court that is our pick for the one to watch.

If great Brit hope Andy Murray makes the quarterfinals, his match will be must-see television as it is. So, watch today as he tries to get there against No. 19 seed Stanislas Wawrinka. This is the eighth meeting between the two, with Murray holding a 4-3 edge.

In each of his three Wimbledon appearances Murray has made it one round further than he did the last year. A third round loss in 2005 turned into a fourth round loss in 2006 which turned into a quarterfinal loss last year. (Murray missed the 2007 championships with an injury.)

By that metric, Murray will get to the semis this time around. If he can break the trend and advance to the finals, Murray will have the opportunity to play in front of Queen Elizabeth. Buckingham Palace sources say that the 83-year old queen has kept her schedule clear for next Sunday in case Murray should play for the chance to become the first British men's winner of the tournament since 1936. The last time the Queen attended Wimbledon was in 1977.

As if Murray didn't have enough pressure on him as it is.
