Andy Murray shows up to celebrate brother Jamie's title

MELBOURNE, Australia - Asked if he'd watch his brother Jamie Murray compete for the men's doubles title, men's singles finalist Andy Murray said he would not. It would be too stressful, he said. He'd settle for looking at the final results online.

Andy seemed to be staying true to his word as Jamie and doubles partner Bruno Soares win their first Grand Slam title. But as the trophy ceremony started, Andy appeared in the players' box.

"Andy, you should be in bed, but we'll be in bed to support you tomorrow," Jamie joked during his speech on court. Their mother, Judy Murray, had already flown home to Scotland, to attend to U.K. Fed Cup team responsibilities. But she, too, was awake for the win.

Andy recorded the entire speech on his iPhone, looking like any typical proud brother. No matter that it was 1:10a.m. on the morning of his own Australian Open final, in which he'll face No. 1 Novak Djokovic. When you're brother wins a Grand Slam, you show up.

Apparently Andy had even tricked big bro. "It was funny to see Andy there at the end. He'd obviously been watching the match in the locker room. I didn't know that," Jamie later told media. "I thought he left to go back to the hotel obviously. Maybe he came back when he thought we had a chance."

As he made his way back to bed, the younger Murray even stopped for a few photos. When it was finally time to go, he reminded fans that he had a good excuse.

Jamie's just hoping little bro pulls off the upset tomorrow.

"I really hope Andy can win tomorrow. It will be an exceptionally difficult match. It's the greatest challenge in tennis right now, to beat Novak over five sets. I just want him to win. I don't care for history or whatever like that. I just want him to win for himself," Jamie said. "I know how much hard work he puts in all the time through his career, the sacrifices that he's made, how much he's dedicated himself to his career. I really hope all that will pay off tomorrow and he can play a great match."
