USMNT and El Tri Live: USA vs. Peru, Mexico vs. Trinidad and Tobago
The men's national teams of the United States and Mexico both played friendlies on Friday, but the matches were more than exhibitions. They were the beginning of the teams' preparation for the Oct. 10 playoff that will determine CONCACAF's representative for the 2017 Confederations Cup, the tuneup tournament for the 2018 World Cup.
The U.S. came back to beat Peru 2-1 in Washington D.C. thanks to Jozy Altidore's two second-half goals. El Tri needed Hector Herrera's golazo in the 85th minute to draw 3-3 with Trinidad and Tobago in Sandy, Utah.
