Wesley Sneijder scores rocket blast into the top corner from distance

Wesley Sneijder decided that the best way to celebrate finally collecting his wages after going two months without being paid by Galatasaray would be to score two outstanding late goals to give them a 2-1 win in the Intercontinental Derby. So that's what he did.

Galatasaray and Fenerbahce — one of the world's greatest an fiercest rivalries — went 87 scoreless minutes before Sneijder launched the absolute stunner in the video above to break the deadlock. Minutes later he scored a second by hitting the other top corner from outside the penalty area and both goals proved necessary as Fenerbahce added one of their own to put the final score at Wesley Sneijder 2, Fenerbahce 1.

The win validated the brilliant (and huge) pre-match tifo display by Galatasaray supporters of former manager Graeme Souness planting a Gala flag in the center circle.

Souness did this after beating Fenerbahce in the 1996 Turkish Cup final. The act cemented him as a club legend, and Souness later said that he "got the biggest kiss of my life from the [club's] president" for doing it.
