Wayne Rooney chose a good day to score a goal reminiscent of one of Manchester United legend David Beckham's best, considering Beckham himself was in attendance with his kids. Rooney opened the scoring in Man United's 2-0 win over West Ham at Upton Park with a sensational volley from just short of the halfway line, catching Hammers goalkeeper Adrian out in no man's land. Romeo and David Beckham...speechless.

Adrian had the best (and most unfortunate) view of Rooney's goal, though.

Here's Beckham's effort from a little further out and with a little more time to place his shot against Wimbledon in 1996...

Rooney went on to score again before halftime, but this time from much closer. He is now Manchester United's third highest scorer of all-time with 212 career goals for the club. Asked if his goal was better than Beckham's, Rooney jokingly said, "Oh, of course." But he wouldn't say it's his best ever. Back in 2011, he gave that honor to his famous overhead kick against Manchester City (watch here).
