Watching from the bench, Cristiano Ronaldo didn't take Borussia Dortmund's comeback attempt sitting down

For the first time since Carlo Ancelotti took charge of Real Madrid at the beginning of the season, Cristiano Ronaldo started a match on the bench. He was forced to cut his training session short on Monday after experiencing trouble with his knee, so Ancelotti decided not to risk starting him in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal against Borussia Dortmund. After all, they took a 3-0 lead in the first leg, so Ronaldo and his goals werent' expected to be necessary.

Then Marco Reus scored in the 24th minute of the second leg and again in the 37th to make it 3-2 and give Real Madrid season to be nervous.

Perhaps feeling a bit helpless from his unusual vantage point, Ronaldo showed his frustration as he urged them on. At times it looked like he was more of an assitant coach for the night.

In the end, Dortmund were unable to find the equalizer they needed to send the match to extra time despite a number of excellent changes and Real Madrid now advance to the semifnals. So the evening still earned a thumbs up from Cristiano, but if he has to go through this again in the next round, he might explode, getting hair products and golden boot pieces everywhere.
