Victor Valdes tears ACL saving free kick, likely ending his season

There was no joy in Barcelona's 3-0 win over Celta Vigo as goalkeeper Victor Valdes suffered an ACL tear that will likely end his season and keep him out of this summer's World Cup.

The injury happed in the 24th minute as Valdes attempted to save a free kick. He couldn't grab hold of the shot, instead knocking it down in front of himself and as he scrambled to cover it, the damage was done.

Valdes was then carted off on a stretcher and was replaced by Jose Manuel Pinto, who performed well in his absence. After the match, Barcelona confirmed the extent of Valdes' injury and that he will require surgery. The 32-year-old Spanish international planned on leaving the club when his contract expires at the end of the season, which means this could have been his last appearance for the club with which he's spent his entire career.
