US keeper trips Mexico scorer after winning goal in CONCACAF U-20 Championship final

Mexico won a record 12th CONCACAF U-20 Championship on Sunday, beating the USA 3-1 in a final that went to extra time. Second-half substitute Julio Gomez ended up scoring the goal to break the 1-1 deadlock with a wonderful overhead kick off a corner (not unlike what he did with a bandaged head in the U-17 World Cup) in the 99th minute.

Frustrated after conceding the goal, US keeper Cody Cropper tried to get a childish bit of revenge by deliberately tripping Gomez as he ran past him in celebration. To his credit, Gomez just scrambled back to his feet and kept on partying without letting that bit of nastiness sour the moment.

Mexico would score again with a penalty kick in the second period of extra time to seal a 3-1 win. The US still have never won this tournament.
