Despite losing 2-0 to Manchester United on Sunday, Swansea City have had a tremendous first season in the Premier League, playing entertaining football and staying comfortably out of relegation danger all season. So, perhaps inspired by Hartlepool's Smurfs, Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers has asked the club's fans to wear something special for their final match of the season at home against Liverpool.
From the BBC:
"Next week is going to be brilliant. I will be asking all the fans if they can wear as many Elvis Presley costumes as we can because when we got promoted the bookies said there was a greater chance of seeing Elvis Presley than us staying at this level. As a show of our achievement and a bit of fun we'll ask for our supporters for that and we'll see what their reaction is."
Rodgers didn't stipulate which Elvis Swansea fans should dress as, so it will be interesting to see how many young, "Jailhouse Rock" Elvises there are and how many 1970s, bloated, rhinestone jumpsuit Elvises. By the end of the day, there will probably be far more of the latter than the former. But that just means it was a successful party.
