A snapshot of the send-off Newcastle fans gave Andy Carroll

Andy Carroll's return to Newcastle went about as bad as he probably feared on Sunday. Not only did Fernando Torres, the man Liverpool sold for a tidy £50 million before quickly spending the majority of it on Carroll, score for Chelsea the day before, but Newcastle won 2-0, with their new No. 9, Papiss Cisse, scoring both goals while Carroll fell on his face to blow a golden scoring chance before subbed off in the 80th minute.

And this image provides a sampling of the send-off Carroll got from his hometown fans: some boos, a lot of joyous waves goodbye, schadenfreude smiles, a bit of applause (maybe some of which wasn't mocking) and at least one guy doing the wanker gesture.

Upset by the days events, Carroll walked right past the bench and went back down the tunnel, "mouthing obscenities towards manager Kenny Dalglish" as he went by, according to the Telegraph.

The good news for Carroll? At least he didn't have to play in goal when Pepe Reina got sent off for headbutting James Perch in the 83rd minute like Jose Enrique (another former Magpie).
