Roma’s Daniele De Rossi attempts spectacular dive in front of referee

AS Roma missed the chance to move up to fourth in Serie A after a 1-0 home defeat to Chievo on Tuesday. The result is particularly disappointing for i Giallorossi, as they enjoyed over two thirds of the possession and club legend Daniele De Rossi pulled off a career-defining piece of simulation.

As De Rossi argued with the referee about a corner kick near the end of the first half, Chievo defender Dario Dainelli appeared to lightly step on De Rossi's foot. The World Cup-winning midfielder then used Dainelli to launch himself to the ground and proceeded to roll around as if his baffled opponent had just shattered his ankle.

Quite how De Rossi thought he could pull off such theatrics right in front of the referee is anyone's guess, but the man in black's body language suggests he isn't too impressed.
