Martin O'Neill burns Patrick Vieira and Fabio Cannavaro on live TV

Martin O'Neill is always an excellent pundit when he is called up for summer tournaments, and has upheld his reputation representing UK network ITV in Brazil.

The Republic of Ireland manager was declared the King of Banter™ in the post-match analysis of France's annihilation of Switzerland, when he burned fellow pundits Patrick Vieira and Fabio Cannavaro.

The incident occurred when the conversation turned to the European Cup, at which point the Ulsterman reminded his colleagues that he had won two of them while playing in Nottingham Forest's golden generation in 1979 and 1980. Vieira and Cannavaro probably needed no reminding that they both failed to win the Champions League in their careers.

If the scorned pair want to challenge O'Neill's place on the Banter throne, they should just wear their World Cup winners' medals during the next broadcast.
