Maradona with the perfect comeback to Pele’s assertion that Neymar is better than Messi

Earlier in the week, Pele again scoffed at suggestions of Lionel Messi's greatness by saying that he "must first become better than Neymar" if he is to be the best ever. Considering the fact that Neymar is 20 years old and that Messi has three consecutive Ballon d'Or awards, this was a comment that most people either dismissed as further evidence of Pele's Brazilian bias or his tendency to say unintentionally wacky things.

But when Maradona was informed of Pele's comment, he once again (see: his recent Bono analogy) conjured up a splendid retort. From Goal.com:

"My God, that is just stupid," Maradona said. "Maybe Neymar is the best player in the world, but only if you say that Messi is from a different planet."

And somewhere in Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo can be heard clearing his throat.
