Manchester police confiscate Man Utd fanzine with Luis Suarez KKK hood cut-out

A page in the latest copy of the Red Issue fanzine (@AndersRed)

The Greater Manchester Police confiscated all copies of a Manchester United fanzine called Red Issue outside of Old Trafford ahead of the big handshake showdown (and football match) between Man United and Liverpool. The unofficial magazine was deemed "incitement to racial hatred" for including a cut-out of a KKK mask with the words "LFC" at the top and "Suarez is innocent" at the bottom in reference to Liverpool's steadfast defense of Luis Suarez even after he was found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra and banned for eight matches.

Of course, Luis Suarez went on to help nothing by refusing to shake Evra's before the match, but he has yet to be seized by the GMP on the same charge as Red Issue.

As a Liverpool fan, the team's performance is far more offensive than this silly magazine

How did they know what Suarez wears for a nightcap when he goes to bed and dreams of racially abusing others?
Okay, that was kind of tacky. But Suarez has demonstrated that he doesn't deserve civility, because he doesn't show it. That refusal to shake hands was classless.
      Go on, defend him.

Well as long as we're willing to apply the same logic to Rio Ferdinand, and the United fans chanting "murderers" then sure, let's roll with it.

I wouldnt exactly be inclined to shake hands with someone accusing me of something i may not have done and getting me suspended, or for argumant sake; imprisoned or fined. Would you ?
Im not saying he didnt do it im just saying i dont think i heard of him ever gettings suspended for something like this before. Also not to mention in south america it is a common thing to call people by their appearance with no disrespect. But again i didnt read any of the evidence so i dont know if he really did it or not.

Bucktooth piece of crap Suarez should be banned from the EPL, shame on Liverpool for not punishing this idiot. Punish him by sending him to the crappy MLS...lmao

Banning it for "incitement of racial hatred" when it is quite clearly ridiculing the racist actions of Luis Suarez is demonstrably ridiculous.

Yes, because clearly that cut-out was meant to inspire tolerance and racial harmony.

Can someone explain why is was deemed acceptable for Evra to call Suarez a "dirty South American"?

and youre the only one reporting this claim...get out of here

What are you talking about? what "claim"? and who do you think you are telling me to get out?
      • Paul 3 months ago

My question, why did they use an AMERICAN organization for this? KKK is not English. Really, English have their racist groups, why KKK? Why not Nazi or something closer to home. Because Man U. liked the little white masks. I bet they do.

Would you rather them provide razors so they can shave their heads and pretend to be in the BNP? C'mon, it's obvious. The white hoods are recognisable as symbols of hatred and racism... that's why.

They could have put a Millwall jersey cut out in there or something.

It is all a publicity stunt cooked up by unsir Alex who keeps on wining games by playing with 15 men, by pressuring refs to follow his directives

and what about Ferdinand's refusal......ohhh, forgot about the double standard for darkies

Arresting people for making KKK cutouts? Wow.(read the lined article) As repulsive as this cutout is freedom of speech is much more important. Once again this is proof of how some people seek to control speech through the of laws. Thought crime is here, folks. We see it in hate crimes laws and now in incidents like this.

England is truly an Orwellian nightmare.

So people in the UK think its right that people are jailed for saying a racist word. Jailed, put behind bars for saying a freaking word, just a word.
