With concerns over the impact of drones on football heightened in the wake of the Serbia-Albania match being abandoned due to one such device, a man has been arrested after allegedly flying a drone over the Etihad during Man City's 4-1 win against Spurs.

From the Manchester Evening News:

Police believed a man was controlling the device on the car park of the Asda store opposite the stadium.

A 41-year-old from Nottingham was arrested and has been bailed for eight weeks pending further enquiries.

GMP say the device could have hurt spectators if it had fallen into the stand.

The M.E.N understands the device was not carrying any banners but may have had a camera attached in order to take overhead shots of the stadium.

There is a YouTube account that features stunning drone footage of numerous football grounds across England, though it seems that it does not belong to the man arrested in Manchester. The last stadium video uploaded to the account was of the Nottingham Forest-Ipswich Town match two weeks ago.

Safety concerns over the potential for falling drones might seem valid, but it remains likely that the Football League and Premier League are more concerned with the cameras attached to them recording matches and upsetting rights holders.
