Lindegaard wants De Gea’s job, not nose picking

Not pictured: Nose picking.

Though Alex Ferguson got snippy after Man United's 1-1 draw against Benfica when asked if Anders Lindegaard had played himself into challenging for more starts, Lindegaard himself is making it clear that that is his goal. Man United have repeatedly proclaimed their faith in 20-year-old David De Gea and some have argued that Lindegaard knows and accepts that he is just a backup. But if that's the case, it's news to Lindegaard.

He told the club's official website:

"I have said one thousand times before - I am not here to pick my nose. Although I came from a small team in Norway called Aalesunds, I am here because I want to play, not because I want to sit on the bench."

So to recap, Anders Lindegaard did not go to Manchester to pick his nose, but he did go there to start over any other goalkeepers. Maybe Ferguson will tell him he's "looking for stupid little things" too.

Actually, he probably will. Very loud. And half an inch from his face.
