He's going home. But first LeBron James is going to the World Cup final – an event he says is "much bigger" than the NBA Finals.

"This is the highest you can get," James said Saturday in Rio de Janiero, according to The Associated Press. He had arrived in the Brazilian city a few hours earlier, a day after announcing he will return to Ohio to once again suit up for his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers.

"This is bigger than the NBA Finals in the sense that it's the world and you have so many countries here," he added.

James is in town for Sunday's World Cup final between Germany and Argentina, but on Saturday he spent the day watching young Brazilians show off their hardcourt skills at a large warehouse in Guanabara Bay in a promotional event hosted by Nike.

Who does he think will take home soccer's biggest prize?

"I'm not sure," he said. "I think Germany is the better overall team, but Argentina has one of the best players in the world -- maybe the best, [Lionel] Messi. So that's why we play the game and we'll see what happens. I hope it's a great one."

James, a minority investor in Premier League club Liverpool, has expressed his interest in the World Cup all month: "I've been watching it from home in the States and it's been an unbelievable tournament."

In announcing he'll return to Cleveland, James said he is especially looking forward to reuniting with Anderson Varejao, calling him "one of my favorite teammates."

He didn't have to wait long for the reunion: James walked around Rio with his Brazilian teammate on Saturday. Will he back back in Brazil for the 2016 Olympics? He said it was "too soon to say."
