Landon Donovan wants Johnny Depp to play him in a movie

In the build-up to heavily anticipated sporting events, it's important for the participants not to be presumptuous or cocky about the outcome. Revealing how unequivocally important the event is may put undue pressure on the team, and could make the feeling of defeat all the more painful if it happens. Ignoring this reasoning entirely, USA forward Landon Donovan has declared he would like a movie made of Saturday's victory over England, with his role, presumably a leading role, played by Tim Burton's man crush. The Mirror reports:

Donovan was asked if he'd love a remake if the USA win and said: "Who'd play me in the movie ... I like Johnny Depp!"

Whoa! Slow down there Landycakes! Firstly, you're putting a bit of a hex on the game if you're saying it's going to be interesting enough to warrant a filmic reproduction (as was the case with the USA's victory over England in 1950, made into the film The Game of Their Lives). Secondly, do you really think Johnny Depp is the man for the job? Really? You'll be lucky to get Mark Rufallo, or at a stretch, Stifler.
