Well, Mexico isn't messing around as it kicks off the tournament against South Africa. Some people simply pray for favorable results (and, you know, world peace and stuff, too), but Mexico has apparently gone so far as to name the statue of The Holy Child of Miracles from the St. Gabriel Archangel Catholic Church in Mexico City as a member of the team, giving it a tiny kit of its own.
I mean, sure it's small, but so is Leo Messi. Also, it's a miracle child, so you really can't overestimate its football abilities. Or something.
