Dirty TackleHibernian sacks stadium announcer for playing Beatles song at halftime
Playing a record by the most successful pop act of all time is rarely cause for dismissal for a DJ, but it has proven to be the undoing of the announcer at Hibernian's Easter Road stadium.
During halftime of Sunday's 2-1 victory over Dundee, Hibs announcer Willie Docherty spun "Taxman," the opening track from The Beatles' rather splendid Revolver album (listen to it after the jump).

The song was used as a deliberate jibe of Hibernian's Edinburgh rivals Hearts, who are facing perilous financial dire straits over an unpaid tax bill. Hibs officials didn't find the joke particularly funny, and released Docherty over a "breach of conduct." The BBC reports:
Hibs' Edinburgh rivals Hearts have been served with a winding-up order over unpaid PAYE and VAT and are also contesting a separate £1.75m tax bill.
And Hearts have asked their fans to invest in a share issue and buy up tickets for upcoming matches to help preserve the club's immediate future.
A spokesman for Hibs said: "The stadium announcer's contract has been terminated following a breach of conduct."
While Hearts are languishing in the SPL and in desperate need of a rescue consortium, Hibs are now two points clear of Celtic at the top of the table. Presumably, this means Barcelona would get thrashed if they visited Easter Road.
