Mexico beat Brazil 2-0 in a Dallas friendly, with both goals coming within the first 33 minutes of the start of the match. Giovani Dos Santos scored first for Mexico in the 22nd minute with a wonderful chip to the far post from an impressive angle. At first it looked like it might have been a cross intended for Chicharito that got away from him in the best way possible, but according to Dos Santos, he did what he intended to do. Said the 23-year-old after the match (via Medio Tiempo):
"You asked me several times, I tried it, I saw that Chicharito was alone there in the center, so I tried it out and thankfully got the goal," he said.
Of course, even if he wasn't trying to shoot, why not say that he was after it worked out so well? But upon closer inspection, it does look like Dos Santos was going for the difficult shot and as U.S. fans surely remember from the 2011 Gold Cup final, he is quite good with those floating chip shots.
