FA chairman Greg Dyke makes throat-slitting gesture in response to England’s World Cup group

England landed in a tough group for the 2014 World Cup. They ended up with 2011 Copa America champions Uruguay, Euro 2012 runners-up Italy and a tricky CONCACAF side in Costa Rica. They will also have to play their very first match (against Italy) in Manaus — the Amazonian city whose mayor said England aren't welcome after Roy Hodgson told the press he didn't want to play there.

Of course, all of this meshes perfectly with England's pessimistic view of international tournaments these days, so FA chairman Greg Dyke summed up England's draw by running a finger across his throat and laughing in the audience. In Dyke's defense, there were probably a lot of delegates doing the same thing in their minds while crying on the inside and planning the fastest route to the hotel bar.
