Real Madrid beat Elche 5-1 on Tuesday with four goals from Cristiano Ronaldo. Though two of those were from the penalty spot, he has now scored a dizzying seven goals in the last four days if you include his hat trick against Deportivo La Coruna in Real Madrid's 8-2 win last weekend. The consecutive hat tricks give him a total of 25 for Madrid — one short of Alfredo Di Stefano's club record (Di Stefano played 11 seasons for Real Madrid and Ronaldo is only in his sixth).

The reigning World Player of the Year's blistering form has prompted Elche manager Fran Escriba to compare him to arguably the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan.

From FourFourTwo:

"Ronaldo is an extraordinary player with tremendous scoring ability," Escriba told reporters.

"This is like when Michael Jordan was playing and scoring 50 points every night.

"And on top of that he got two penalties. He doesn't need the help."

Comparing athletes within the same sport is hard enough, let alone those in different ones, but this seems pretty fair. Let's just hope Ronaldo doesn't suddenly retire from football and try to play minor league baseball. It would be tremendous if he starred in a remake of Space Jam ("Space Goal"?), though.
