An attempt to decipher what Edinson Cavani is doing in his newspaper ad thanking Napoli

On the same day as his first Ligue 1 match with new club PSG, Edinson Cavani took out a full-page ad in Il Corriere dello Sport back in Italy to thank former club Napoli and their fans. The ad read: “1,000 unforgettable days, 104 special moments spent with you. The Azzurri are always in my heart. Thank you for so much love. Thank you Napoli.” (The 1,000 days being a reference to his three years with the club and 104 special moments corresponding to his number of goals in all competitions.)

It's a lovely sentiment and a wonderful gesture, but then there was the photo that, well, take a look...

What exactly is going on there? Some theories...

-He's recreating a scene from the original Night of the Living Dead.
-He's pretending he's blind and just discovering that he has a face.
-He just got back from having dental work done and his mouth is still numb.
-He's only just learning how to blow kisses.
-He thinks a bee might have stung him on the lip.
-He spotted Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the horizon, coming to destroy his village, and didn't have time to take another picture.
