DTotD: Real Sociedad player decides NFL tackle is the only way to stop Leo Messi

Dirty Tackle

In the 60th minute of Barcelona's 2-0 Copa del Rey semifinal first leg win over Real Sociedad, the losing side scored an especially demoralizing own goal. Immediately after that, Sociedad, who were reduced to 10-men just before halftime, were apparently feeling frustrated and decided that they were going to prevent Lionel Messi from scoring by any means necessary.

So when Messi charged up the middle of the pitch with the ball, a Sociedad player decided to drag him down from behind. But since Messi refuses to go down easy, this didn't work at all. With Messi still on the ball, Jon Arrospide Gaztanaga made sure he wouldn't make it any further and wrapped him up in an NFL style tackle, sending both of them to the ground.

Gaztanaga was shown a yellow card for his effort, but on the bright side, he might get selected in the 2014 NFL draft.
