DTotD: Nice midfielder Valentin Eysseric banned for 11 games for breaking opponent’s leg

Nice visited St Etienne last Saturday, with both teams looking to secure European qualification in Ligue 1. The game turned very ugly after 23 minutes, however, as Nice midfielder Valentin Eysseric received a straight red card for a horror challenge on Jérémy Clément. As you can see, there was nothing 'nice' about it.

While his side cruised to a 4-0 victory, the St Etienne midfielder went for surgery on what turned out to be an open fracture of the tibia. It will keep him out of the game for at least six months.

A statement released on Nice's website on Thursday evening confirms that 20-year-old Eysseric has been banned for eleven games by the French Professional League's (LFP) disciplinary committee. That means he will not play for the rest of the season.

Eysseric has apologised and will not appeal the decision.
