Copa Libertadores holders Santos lost the first leg of their round of 16 tie against Bolivian club Bolivar 2-1 in an environment that was slightly hostile. After Bolivar retook the lead in the second half, the home fans took extreme measure to try and keep Santos at bay and hit Neymar in the face with a thrown object.
Neymar was about to take a corner kick when he was hit and he immediately dropped to the ground, holding his mouth. He was then surrounded by riot police and their shields and after a bit of treatment, a few choice words and a little help from Ganso, he eventually did take the corner kick and played out the rest of the match.
This has been the Dirty Tackle of the Day: a chronicling of unfortunate events.
