DTotD: Galatasaray’s Burak Yilmaz hit with smoke bomb by fans of his former club

This year seemed to have an unusually high and disturbing number of incidents of fans throwing firecrackers at players during matches and as 2012 draws to a close, those incidents continue. During Sunday's 0-0 draw between Trabzonspor and Galatasaray, the home fans threw an object (perhaps a water bottle?) at Burak Yilmaz, who left Trabzonspor for Gala after scoring a club record 33 goals in 30 appearances last season.

With Yilmaz on the ground in the fetal position, Trabzonspor defender Giray Kacar went over to check on his former teammate and that's when a smoke bomb went off near Yilmaz's rear end. Kacar went down, covering his eyes, as Yilmaz moved away, holding his head and his singed backside.

According to our friends at Eurosport, both players would be OK and continued on in the match after receiving medical treatment.

Previous firecracker incidents this year: Zenit v Dynamo Moscow, Independiente v Belgrano, Al-Ahli v Sepahan, and Omonia Nicosia v Anorthosis
