In the 11th minute of his side's Eredivisie match against Heerenveen, Groningen defender Timo Letschert was sent off for tackling an opponent with his head. Letschert was stunned by the decision, but apparently also by the collision, since he passed out after walking off the pitch under his own power.
After receiving treatment near the touchline, Letschert had to be carried away on a stretcher. Heerenveen ended up winning 4-2, with both sides having another player sent off during the match. Letschert was given a three-match ban for the tackle and he was well enough to appeal his punishment on Monday.
