In many ways, England's friendly against Honduras in Miami did not make for an enjoyable Sunday afternoon for Daniel Sturridge. First, there was the lightning storm that halted the match for more than half an hour in the middle of the first half. Then Honduras' Emilio Izaguirre earned a yellow card by kicking the ball into Sturridge's sensitive area as he laid on the ground.
Finally, after missing several good chances in a match that dragged on to a 0-0 draw, the Liverpool striker took a moment to let the day's frustrations wash over him as he stood against an advertising board behind the goal. And it was at this moment that a fan hit him in the chest with a beer can.
The England team traveled to Brazil after the match, where Sturridge will hope to be more target man than human target.
