Cristiano Ronaldo scores a rocket blast from distance against Real Betis

It's been all of three days since Cristiano Ronaldo last scored a goal, so clearly he was overdue for another in Real Madrid's match against Real Betis. And he wasted no time in making it happen by launching a missile from distance to open the scoring in the 10th minute. Be sure to watch the replay angle from behind Ronaldo to see the shot in all its glory.

This is far from the newly crowned Ballon d'Or winner's greatest goal, but what should be highlighted about it is the sheer power he was able to put behind the ball. The combination of speed and placement left the goalkeeper frozen in place as it whizzed by. The only thing missing was the celebration Ronaldo used to do in which he pointed to his thigh.

Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema added goals of their own before halftime and Real Madrid eventually won 5-0. After Bale's goal — a free kick through a hole in the wall created by teammate Pepe ducking down — Betis goalkeeper Stephan Andersen summed up what it's like to play against Real Madrid on days like this.
