Clint Dempsey talks to people who can't recognize Clint Dempsey

Clint Dempsey was recently in New York City for MLS's FIFA 15 launch party (he's on the cover of the North American edition with Leo Messi), so ESPN had him ask some people on the street about the U.S. national team and Clint Dempsey. The video above only shows Dempsey talking to three men who are delightfully oblivious to the fact that they are talking to Clint Dempsey. Though this is far too small a sample size from which to draw conclusions about Dempsey's recognition amongst the general public, it's still good for a laugh.

When asked about the captain of the U.S. team, one man bemoaned the fact that he was left off the World Cup squad at the last minute, thinking it was Landon Donovan, who will probably now fly to New York just to find this man and hug him forever. Once this man remembered that Dempsey was the captain at the World Cup and confirmed that he is, in fact, a good player, Dempsey casually told him "my name's Clint" as he walked away. The man was then left to begin the long and taxing process of figuring out what just happened.
