The U.S. World Cup team is arriving back home two days after a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Belgium in the World Cup Round of 16. After spending the last month together in Brazil, the team bonded and experienced the highs and lows of four games that enamored American fans.
As the players went their separate ways to either re-join their club teams or enjoy the rest of their off-seasons, Ale Bedoya had a gift for his teammates to thank them for the memorable experience in Brazil: custom engraved bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue Label:
The bottle is engraved with the message: "Brazil was just the beginning. Keep walking."
“I wanted to do something to commemorate the occasion, because win or lose, making it to the World Cup, especially to the Round of 16, is an epic achievement,” said Bedoya. “We can’t change the past, but we can take a moment to reflect on this experience and use it to drive us forward.”
That is a nice $200-plus bottle of blended scotch whisky, which was probably cracked open by a few players on a long plane ride home from Brazil.
