  • Mario Balotelli's first day with Liverpool in pictures

Brooks Peck at Dirty Tackle21 days ago

Mario Balotelli finalized his move to Liverpool on Monday — the same day his new club played one of his old clubs, Manchester City. This made for a very busy day and thankfully there were photographers present to document every step the Italian international took.

"I went ahead and crossed out all the behavior clause nonsense before I signed. You're welcome."

"I'm going to use this as my travel mug."

"This is where I will fill Simon Mignolet's boots with various jams."

"It's nice of them to put up hand railings around the training ground to keep Steven Gerrard from falling."

"I'm moving 'the weather' ahead of 'the press' in my list of things I don't like about England."

"3-1 Man City. Maybe if I park my car in Brendan Rodger's office they'll sell me to Napoli."

  • The Moyes-O-Meter: Louis van Gaal falls behind and surpasses David Moyes after two matches

Brooks Peck at Dirty Tackle22 days ago

Starting the season with a loss against the same team David Moyes' Man United beat to begin last season invited unwanted and previously unthinkable comparisons for new manager Louis van Gaal. And the second match of the season didn't help him in that regard. So to track Van Gaal's progress compared to Moyes' record setting failures, DT introduces The Moyes-O-Meter.

    Results

Moyes: Swansea City 1-4 Man Utd, Man Utd 0-0 Chelsea (4 points, 4th place)

Van Gaal: Man Utd 1-2 Swansea City, Sunderland 1-1 Man Utd (1 point, 13th place)

    Advantage: Moyes

    Comments after second game

Moyes: "I thought we played well and I'm disappointed we didn't get a goal. Maybe we lacked a bit of cutting edge with our final pass and final cross."

  • Here's Cristiano Ronaldo hitting Diego Godin in the head a bunch of times

Brooks Peck at Dirty Tackle23 days ago

Cristiano Ronaldo did not enter the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup until the start of the second half and when Real Madrid were on the verge of losing the trophy to Atletico, he decided to take out his frustrations on Diego Godin's head.

The incident occurred on a Real corner kick deep into added time, but instead of going for the ball, Ronaldo practiced his swimming stroke on Godin's face. This earned him a yellow card, but he was lucky not to get sent off.

  • Liga MX goalkeeper punches the ball off a defender and in for an own goal

Brooks Peck at Dirty Tackle23 days ago

Morelia had a terrible Friday night, losing 5-1 to Tigres. The first goal they conceded might have been the worst of the lot, though.

Tigres' Joffre Guerron took a shot on goal at a difficult angle after a lovely stepover and Morelia keeper Carlos Rodriguez punched it right into helpless defender Luiz Cardozo, sending the ball back into the net. Cardozo was credited with the own goal through no fault of his own. This happened in just the ninth minute.

Tigres' second goal wasn't much better for Rodriguez, though...

At that point no one would've blamed him for just going home. Some might have even encouraged it.

  • Alan Pardew plays charades during match against Aston Villa

Brooks Peck at Dirty Tackle24 days ago

Aston Villa and Newcastle played to a scoreless draw that didn't exactly feature football at its best, so Alan Pardew tried to entertain himself by playing charades during the match.

OK, let's see. Quiet dance happy? No. Little Miss Sunshine? No. A deaf dentist? I don't know. I give up. There's a guess from the stands, though...

Yep. I think we have a winner.

But hey, at least he didn't headbutt anyone.

  • Atletico Madrid become champions of Comic Sans after Diego Simeone gets sent off for patting official's head

Brooks Peck at Dirty Tackle24 days ago

A Mario Mandzukic goal in the second minute of the Spanish Super Cup second leg was enough to give Atletico Madrid a 2-1 aggregate win over Real Madrid and start their season with a trophy. A trophy engraved with Comic Sans, but a trophy nonetheless.

Phew! The @rfef is (still) using Comic Sans. On its Supercup trophy... @BrooksDT pic.twitter.com/co7ZfwIYUz

James Rodriguez started for Real Madrid after coming off the bench to score their only goal in the first leg. Cristiano Ronaldo, meanwhile, did not enter the match until halftime.

Atletico manager Diego Simeone — who was given a one-match ban by UEFA for his antics during last season's Champions League final loss to Real — had to watch the second half from the stands after being sent off for patting the fourth official in the back of the head while arguing calls.

And Gareth Bale used the match to try out some intense new yoga moves.
